August 21, 2021 will mark the second anniversary of our beloved Maliha entering heaven. Let us come together to honor her memory.

Arshud has offered his home at 2130 Chandler Dr, Tustin CA 92782 to be our venue for this gathering. We will convene next month on the 21st at 11:00 am. Please RSVP by July 31st if you can come.

We will have a small ceremony to celebrate our dear friend’s life. Please be prepared to talk about your fondest memories of her or read a poem to her or say a short prayer for her or anything else you’d like to do to pay tribute to her.

Lunch will be served after the ceremony courtesy of our gracious host Arshud.

Afterwards, we will play 2 or 3 super scrabble games. Please bring your own score sheets.

If you have a MMMSSC button pin, please wear it. Otherwise, one will be given to you.

Looking forward to your RSVP.

Remembrances on Maliha’s Birthday

Standard

Dear Arshud,
I think, with a lot of love and affection, about Maliha almost every day but I have been thinking about Maliha all day today because it is her Birthday. Today also happened to be my daughter’s BD but I am thinking more about Maliha’s BD than my daughter’s. We were all blessed by her existence and she will always be in my heart.

Remembrances on Maliha’s Birthday

Standard

Dear Arshud and Alia,
I don’t think a day has gone by that I haven’t missed Maliha. Her picture is on my dresser, and a friendship card from her is in my desk. I woke up today, turned my calendar page to June 5th and read ‘’Mariah’s birthday dinner at Duke’s 5pm’’ When I took her to lunch there and she fell in love with the food,I told her the Super Scrabblers would gather there for her birthday in 2020! She was delighted!
There are still no words to express losing such a lovely, loving, caring friend. I am so happy she was in my life. I’m sending love today to all her friends and family. Gretchen

Remembrances on Maliha’s Birthday

Standard

Dear Friends:

Since last year I have been going to the Melrose Abbey cemetery every Saturday afternoon to put fresh flowers on Maliha’s grave, and to have a chat with her – giving her the latest updates on the life and times without her. Often I am accompanied by my daughter, Alia. We take two folding chairs along to sit and think of all the ways in which she used to make our lives better. It has been nearly a year, and we are still discovering things she used to do, that now go undone.

It was several years ago when she declared to me: “I am going to have a scrabble club in which we will all be friends.” “Impossible,” I told her. “First of all, you can’t be friendly to your competitors. Second, beyond a certain age, people don’t make new friends.” She looked at me, as if to say – like Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, “You just wait, Henry Higgins, you just wait.”

Well, she proved me wrong. This was only one of many seemingly impossible things she accomplished during the 52 years we spent together. She loved people, and she loved birthday celebrations.

Thanks to all of you for keeping her in your hearts.

Arshud,
It would have been so nice for all of us to gather at your house for Maliha’s birthday! I miss her as I’m sure everyone else does. And you are so right that she would not have liked this social distancing at all. She always wanted to hug each and every one of us. 🙂

If all goes well, getting together in August would be wonderful.

I hope you and your family are all doing well and being safe.

Warmly,
Yuki

Praised be Jesus Christ Now And Forever {PBJCNAF]. Hope everyone is well and hale, COVID free.
I was just lifting late beloved Maliha like i do for my dear departed in my daily prayers and Masses, lately via zoom and livestream, and remembering that last year at St Lawrence Martyr’s Church in Redondo Beach, i requested a Mass for her this coming June 5. Wow..time flew…and come to think back, her last email to me about Jesus was in August 7…and she’s up there in heaven, now please God and must have met late beloved John too….at least they’re not social distancing up there.
Take care everyone…as we keep our “shelter in place”.

Dear Friends:
With Maliha’s birthday coming up in two weeks, my thoughts turn to last year’s splendid birthday party all of you hosted for her at Laguna Woods – with Gretchen contriving to make her win at left-right-center. I was hoping we will get together at her birthday this year for lunch at our house – but with the virus situation it is an idle thought – which she never would have entertained.

She probably also would not have liked a world without social gatherings, and without scrabble parties. Let us see what the world will look like at her anniversary – August 21, and we may have a memorial luncheon on the following day- August 22, at our house. In the meantime, best of health to all of you, and keep her in your hearts.
