SUPERSCRABBLE GAMES – NOVEMBER 17, 2016 (Thursday)  The funnest game in town continues.  If you’re new, call Maliha for direction, text at 714-654-4308 or email maliha.mendoza@gmail.com OR leave a message at 714-544-4746.  The finders of words in the following categories will receive an instant prize; the words must contain 5 or more letters to quality. No fee is required.   Lunch is served after the first game.  Prizes are donated as a service to the super scrabblers, so we can enjoy a sharp mind and positive spirit.

Sometime ago, FERN TRAUSCH contributed the following categories:

ROUND 1:  Compound words.  Gary Moss listed some examples from his 2001 booklet:  BOOKEND, KINGBIRD, KINGHOOD, KINGWOOD, LANDMARK, CARDCASE, TYPECASE, BRIEFCASE, BOOKCASE, HARDCASE, SEEDCASE, WATCHCASE.  More examples were found in the internet such as:  BASEBALL, GRANDMOTHER, UPSIDE, SUNFLOWER, MOONLIGHT, RAILROAD, WEATHERMAN, EARTHQUAKE, SOMETIMES, UPSTREAM, GRASSHOPER, PLAYTHINGS, etc.

ROUND 2:  Scenic words.  VISTA, WATERFALLS, SUNSETS, BACKDROP, PANORAMA, SEASCAPE, SUNRISE, RUGGED, SACRED, RURAL, LANDSCAPE, SCENERY, SURROUNDINGS, SETTING, ENVIRONMENT, TERRAIN, COUNTRYSIDE, SANCTUARY, SERENE.

ROUND 3:  Mammals and words relating to mammals.  TIGER, RODENT, CARNIVORES, MARSUPIAL, BEARS, CETACEANS, MAMMARY, HUMAN, BACKBONE, PANDA, GIRAFFE, CHEETAH, BUFFALO, CARABAO, HUMPBACK WHALE, RORQUAL, ECHIDNAS, PLATYPUS, GORILLAS, SLOTHS, HAMSTERS HORSES, DOLPHINS, ECHIDNA, PLATYPUS, ELEPHANTS, MOOSE, AARDVARK, BEAVERS, KOALA, KANGAROO, NUMBAT, etc.

All day category:  Qualified words must have these letters:  NEST anywhere in the word.  Examples:  NESTER, NESTLES NESTS.  Gary compiled the following words in his 2001 booklet:  LEANEST, MEANEST, INANEST, GOLDENEST, KEENEST, SULLENEST, BARRENEST, ROTTENEST, HANGNEST, PLAINEST, FINEST, SOLEMNEST, WANNEST, DUNNEST, HONEST, etc.

LEARN two long words to win the 12- to 13-letter ($110 in the box), and 14- to 15+letter words ($465 in the box).  The pair of players who find the long word will split the prize.  Example CROWDFUNDING (12 letters). Breakdown:  CROW, CROWD, FUN, FUND, FUNDING, DING, ROW, OW, UN. PRO PROF PROFESS PROFESSION PROFESSIONAL PROFESSIONALISM PROFESSIONALISING or PROFESSIONALIZING (17).

RECAP on Prize Distribution:  For many months now, the prize distribution does not give everybody equal chance to win something after 3 long games.  It has been considered many times to revise the old way in order to give more opportunity for others to win prizes, especially when new players come there should be more encouragement.  From now on everyone should try to play as many bingo words as possible because for each bingo you’ll receive $1.00/bingo played.  This incentive forces you to study bingo words.  When a player wins 3 games, that’s all he can take, plus the number of bingos played. The player who wins 3 games cannot take the prizes for the HC neither the single HG points.  There are 7 prizes below (7 for 7 heavens).  The Super-S Club ranks the top prizes in the order of $$ amounts:  (1)  Win 3 games ($25); (2)  Bingos played ($1.00/bingo); (3)  Highest cumulative score ($10); (4)  High single game points ($1.00/point); (5)  Highest point for single bingo ($5); (6)  Highest point for a non-bingo word ($5); and (7)  Category words ($5/word).

The next Super-S games:  December 15, 2016.  REMINDER will be sent a week prior.
