Superscrabble Club meets on 12-4-14

Superscrabble is going forward! We are meeting at the Embassy Suites at 10:00a.m., December 4, 2014. We will play at the atrium area, have lunch after the first game, and then play two more games in the afternoon. There is a public parking across the street from the hotel, behind McCormick & Schmick’s restaurant. Here’s the address: Embassy Suites, 2120 Main Street, Irvine, CA 92614. 949-553-8332 located near the OC Airport. For those celebrating their birthdays in December, I would love to see you all to personally hand your birthday and Christmas gifts. Categories will be announced before the games. Please let me know what you would like for lunch by choosing the number so I can order it ahead of time. (1) Three cheese chicken quesadilla; (2) Three traditional street tacos 4″ gluten free corn tortilla–choice of grilled chicken or beef; (3) Flat bread pizza: Mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage, ham; (4) Certified Angus Burger with lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, pickle spear, choice of adding bacon, grilled onions, or grilled mushrooms; (5) Turkey wrap: roasted turkey, organic spring lettuce mix, hummus, tomato, avocado, and spinach tortilla; and (6) Panini Sandwitch with ham & Swiss cheese.

This is our last meeting for the year 2014, due to the extensive repair we are undergoing at our regular meeting place. We will resume in January 2015.

It was great to see Penny Baker and Nancy Burch after several months. Thanks for coming. Renee Kahn won all 3 games. Several players received instant awards for playing the assigned categories. Bill Lapinski played the mostest bingo word with 17, had the high game 1063, the highest cum. 2962, and highest points for bingo word, WEAVERS 106. My computer at home is down so I’m sending this via iPad.

All words played that fit the category assigned must have 5 letters or more to qualify for an instant award. Read on so you’re prepared to play the words in the category.

First game category: anything you find in 7-11 store or convenience store: Examples: hotdog, candies, sodas, biscuits, snacks, bananas, lotto, drinks, beers, lemonade, etc.

Second game category – relating to money: dollar, investment, savings, checking, deposits, banking, finance, pesos, dirham, centavo, euros, koruna, koruny, etc.

Third game – relating to bathroom: bathing, towel, toilet, hamper, soaps, shampoo, toothbrush, bathmat, shower, bathtub, etc.

There are 7 awards available: (1) Winning 3 games has increased in value; (2) High cumulative points; (3) Highest game out of 3; (4) Highest bonus word points (bingo); (5) Mostest bingo words played; (6) 12- to 13-letter word played; and (7) Word with 14 or more letters (14 to 21 letters).

Learn a long word: LOATHSOMENESSES (15 letters). Begin with a possibility of finding a basic word within. SOME, MEN, NESS, OATH, LOATH, etc. Build it up to make the longest word of the day. Be aware of your draws to hook in building a long word. With the best of luck you might win $270.
