Results 5-25-17 Superscrabble Games

Standard

Congratulations to all winners!  Our champ on 5-25-17 is Amnon Meyers, winning 3 games; Amnon played 16 bingos.  Roy Kamen won the high cum=3212, the high-point game=1136, CW=1, and played 18 bingos.  Bill Lapinski tied with Roy for the high-point game=1136, and had 12 bingos.

The highlight of 5-25-17 games happened during the 2nd round, achieved by Lynn Gun and Bill Lapinski.  They expanded a word INVALID connecting -ATION  at the end to form INVALIDATION (12-letter word), which qualified to win the 12- to 13-letter word category.  The prize in the pot for this category has reached $140, which was awarded right away.  Then an S was added later making it INVALIDATIONS, a 13-letter word.  At this point the pot was empty.  Usually $5 is deposited in the pot each time we meet.  Players shared the award in finding a valid long word.  It was very exciting to see this happening again.  But someday players can find a longer word than that: the pot for 14-15+letter-word now contains $495, and it will become $500 by June 2017.  I believe it can happen soon, as you learn to familiarize in combining two bingo words 7+7 (compounding two bingo words is possible).

Maxine Marcus won the high-point non-bingo word ZINCY=83, played 8 bingos, and one category word.  Najat Reikes won the high-point bingo word DERIVED=134 points, and two category words.  We celebrated Tom Titus’  B-day and enjoyed tiramisu.  And THANKS to “Superscrabble family” players who kindly thought to sing and celebrate in advance my June 5 BDay.  Such lovely cards (from Pat Reed, Tom Titus, Jeff Polan, Joanie Scafuto, and Najat Reikes).  I truly enjoyed reading them, and the delicious carrot cake we shared.
