Thursday 3-13-14 SUPERSCRABBLE

Standard

MARK YOUR CALENDAR: Superscrabble next Thursday March 13, 2014. Invite a friend to experience the funnest get together games with scrabblers in town. Please confirm your intention: 714-544-4746 or text 714-654-4308. The following words are good to know, and you may get a prize for playing at least one for each round. The word must contain five letters to qualify.

First round: Words regarding babies or what they need: CRIBS, BASSINET, DIAPER, PACIFIER, BOOTEE, NIPPLE, NURSERY, MITTENS, BIBS, RATTLES, LULLABY, etc.

Second round: Something to do with gardening (things you need to do in your garden): FERTILIZE, WATER, CULTIVAR, CULTIVATE, WEEDING, PRUNE, CUTTING, THINS, PRUNER, MULCH, PLANTING, MOWED, etc.

Third round: Something sweet: CANDY, ICECREAM, HONEY, NECTAR, CAKES, HALVA, BAGASSE, SUGAR, SUGARCANE, MOLASSES, PANOCHE, etc.

2 Long words to know: (1) COLLATERALIZE= 13 letters. There is a possibility, starting with COL: what if you have 7 letters LATERAL? Hook it to COL = COLLATERAL; it’s just a long bingo word; and what if your opponent hooks IZE = COLLATERALIZE=13 letters? This person takes the prize of the first box which now has 11000 pennies. Two people won the box for 12-14 letters: Najat on 9/6/12, and Pat Reed on 3/21/13. (2) FRAUDULENTNESSES=16 letters. No one has taken the second box for 15-16+ letters, and it now contains 19000 pennies. Two winners may win a prize. Start with FRAUD, and later you might have ULENT to make it FRAUDULENT; this is just 10 letters and it does not qualify. NESS can make it FRAUDULENTNESS=14 letters which qualifies for the first box. ES can make it into a 16-letter word FRAUDULENTNESSES. The one who finds the proper combination wins the second box. Remember there are 10 Ss in the bag of 200 tiles. 500 pennies are added each time the scheduled games occur. WORD JUDGE USA has many long words you can look into for possibilities.

Superscrabble Games Stats 2-27-14

Standard

Tom Titus won the high-game at 1180. Bob Agnew, Renee Kahn, and Pat Reed won all 3 games (you have a prize for winning all three games); Tom Titus won the high scoring bingo (143); both Bill Lapinsky and Pat Reed found 11 bingo words. CONGRATULATIONS! Maliha desired a physical and mental workout, and so she got it by playing two double games. She cannot sit down to play double games due to the size of the board and her physical limitation of being a small person with short arms, so she walks back and forth to play on each board. She also has a challenge of keeping the score and time. Although winning is sweet, to her the Superscrabble game is about 100% learning, remembering the words played, and having fun with lasting memorable moments among friends. We also celebrated the birthdays of Najat (2/27) and Fern Trausch (3/2) adding to our fun and games.
