REMINDER: SUPER-S CLUB GAMES 11-5-15

GAMES BEGIN AT 10:00 A. M. FOLLOWED BY LUNCH; 2 MORE GAMES FOR THE REST OF THE DAY.  Super scrabblers are willing to teach newcomers.  Cheat sheet is provided to beginners who will be allowed to use it for three consecutive meetings.  The instant award for finding 12- to 13-letter words is now $50.  The pot for 14 to 15+ letter-word now has $375.  Play long words in multiple steps.

To qualify for an instant reward with the assigned categories, the word must contain 5 letters or more.  There are prizes for: winning 3 games, highest scoring game, highest total cumulative score, high-point bingo word, and for the most bingo words played.

1st game category:  What flowers or trees are you planting this fall?  APPLE, BERRY, CACAO, GUAVA, PANSY, ROSES, GINGER, JASMIN, GARDENIA, LILIES, VINCA, PITAYA, PITAHAYA, PEACH, etc.

2rd game category:  Did you see any symbols lately, or anything relating to a concept?  CROSS,  WORDS, SIGNS, IMAGE, BELIEF, DREAM, SOUND, LINES, NUMERALS, CARTOGRAPHY, GESTURES, NAMES, LINGA, CLEFS, etc.

3rd game category:  Artists’ instruments or materials:  CANVAS, BOARD, PANAEL, FRAME, EASEL, CHARCOAL, PASTEL, ARIBRUSH, CHARCOAL, MARKER, PAINT, SOLVENT, PIGMENT, BRUSH, WATERCOLOR, etc.

ALL DAY category:  Words with 2 DDs together:  ADDICT, ADDICTED, ADDING, BIDDING, BEDDING, RIDDING, HEADDRESS, READD, READDED, READDICT, READDICTING, READDING, READDRESS, READDS, READDRESSING, READDICTS, etc.

LEARN a long word.  BIOCHEMORPHOLOGIES (18 letters). Breakdown:  BIO, CHEMO, HE, MOR, MORPH, OLOGIES, PHO.  BIOCHEMORPHOLOGY [bī·ō¦ke·mȯr¦fäl·ə·jē], (n., medical definition):  the study of the relationship between the chemical structure of a compound and its biological action; the science dealing with the chemical structure of foods and drugs and their reactions on living organisms.

Welcome to Dave Postal who joined us for the first time and able to play 2 games of Super-S (almost equivalent to 4 standard Scrabble®  games). Congratulations to the super scrabblers:  BILL LAPINSKI and GARY MOSS.  Welcome back BILL and good to see you after a few weeks of respite. In addition to Bill’s 3-game win, he had a high game=1004 during the first round, ending up with a high CM=2966.  ROY KAMEN is the King of bingo words as he seems to magnetize bingo words=14.  But LYNN GUNN was relentless finding the super bingo WESTERNS=146, which landed on a triple-triple word score!  What a fabulous and joyful day we all had.  Several players received instant awards for successfully finding multiple words in the assigned category, especially the double EE words for all-day category.

1st game category:  Furry animals.  GOOGLE “furry animals” to see images such as DOGGY, KITTEN, RACCOON, RABBIT, LLAMA, SHEEP, GOATS, DONKEY, etc.

2rd game category:  Your favorite foods:  cakes, bread, lumpia, noodles, ceviche, eggfruit, avocado, steak, lobster, cumquat, apple,  etc.

3rd game category:  Decoration pieces:  picture, painting, clocks, chaise, lamps, shades, cushion, carving, geode, etc.

ALL DAY category:  Words containing two aa’s: must be next to each other such as:  AAHED, AARGH, AALIIS, AARDVARK, AARDWOLF,  BAALIM, BAAED, BAALS, BAASES, CRAAL, HAAFS, HAARS, LAAGER, LAARI, MAARS, NAANS, PAANS, ETC.

LEARN a long word.  Did you try this last time?  APEXCARDIOGRAPHY (singular has 16 letters); APEXCARDIOGRAPHIES (plural = 18 letters).  Somewhere about the middle of the board, you may start with CARDIO.  Breakdown:  APE, APEX, CAR, CARD, CARDIO, GRAPH, PHI, GRAPHIC, AR, HI, PE, EX.
