Superscrabble Games 2-27-14

Standard

Superscrabble games are scheduled for Thursday, 2-27-14. New players are welcome and will be allowed to refer to a “CHEAT SHEET” while playing. Current players are always willing to show how to play better. Complete equipment is provided. The games start at 10:00am; we have a lunch break where players can enjoy food and conversation. We continue to play two more games in the afternoon. There are prizes (a) for the word found in the assigned category, (b) for winning all 3 games, (c) for finding the highest scoring bingo (bonus word), and (d) for the highest scoring game point (out of 3 games against all players). Please confirm your intention so there’s enough food to serve at lunch by either replying to this email, texting me at 714-654-4308, or leaving a message at my home 714-544-4746 at least two days prior. Space is limited to 14 players. If your Bday is near this event, you have a special gift waiting. This message also appears at superscrabble.wordpress.com/superscrabble21 where you can view your past performance.

First Round: Words starting with BOO (see list provided below, 228 words). It must be at least 5 letters to get the prize (the 5-letter requirement applies to all rounds).

Second Round: Words relating to hospital: medicine, pills, nurses, doctors, therapy, injection, charts, swabs, diagnosis, physician, wheelchair, etc.

Third Round: Winter sports: curling, skating, sledding, snowboard, bobsleigh, skiing, biathlon, skijoring, skijorer, skibob, snowkiting, snowmobiling, etc.

Roy Kamen did it again, wining all 3 games (cum. total of 2971), with the highest-game points of the day at 1134, and playing the most bingos–13 total. Gary Moss was 2nd for high-game points of 1105 with 9 bingos. Gretchen Cowan was 3rd for high-game points of 1075 and winning the higest bingo points at 146. Tom Titus was the only one who found RICIN for the word category that has something to do with “wicked plants” (poisonous). Congratulations to all the winners. See the history of your performance and blog stats. Visit superscrabble21 in the internet: ; designed by Lawren Freebody. There’s a word list to study every now and then that Lawren takes from WORD JUDGE USA that you can printout. The last list showed words beginning with “FREE.” The next Superscrabble Club meeting is scheduled for FEBRUARY 27, 2014. A reminder will be emailed as soon as I get back from the WGPO tournament happening in Scottsdale, Arizona, to celebrate the 30th Anniversary Phoenix Tournament hosted by Larry Rand and Barbara Van Alen.
