BILL LAPINSKI is the big WINNER and won all the four games, (playing double in the first round). Here’s a summary of his fantastic day during the Superscrabble games on 7/10/14: Highest game-point 1277; most number of bonus words after 3 games with 14 bingos–after the 4th game, he had accumulated 19 bingos; high-point bingo word for 142 points—BUNTERS.
Welcome to LOURDES CORTEZ who played with us for the first time. She recalls playing a standard Scrabble® game on a flat cardboard set with her relatives in the Philippines while growing up, and until her recent visit this year wherein the tiles are mostly crooked during the entire game. She was amazed at how the tiles stayed perfectly straight while playing here—thanks to the built-in grid on the board. We all gave her a warm welcome, and showed her how to use the clock and keep track of the scores during the game. BOB AGNEW was very kind to show Lourdes how we do our Superscrabble “thing” enthusiastically. We hope to see Lourdes again and again.
Several players won the assigned category: TOM TITUS, JOYCE PALMER, FERN TRAUSCH, and RENEE KAHN. Usually there is an example for each assigned category included in the REMINDER a week prior to the games. Take a moment and read the listed items to gain advantage and add to what you already know.
CONGRATULATIONS to all the winners! Maliha opted to split the players into two groups: Group 1 and Group 2 in order to give a chance to others who are still learning the words, hammering words down into the stubborn or aging brain, prodding the neurons to work better, and still considering the best way to develop a wordage recollection process—wondering when it will ever click into place for instant recall.
